About Cliff

Cliff received his Master of Arts in Counseling from Trevecca University in Nashville TN and then completed an additional year and a half of post graduate coursework at the University of Kansas focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of mental health disorders. After his formal education he completed specialized training in the evidence based treatment known as CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy) at the Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavior Therapy. He also is one of a select few therapists in all of Kansas City to have personally attended and completed specialized OCD treatment training through the BTTI (Behavior Therapy Training Institute) of the IOCDF (International OCD Foundation). This specialty training is recognized worldwide as the gold standard in OCD treatment training.

Cliff spent the first 2 years of his mental health career working at Crittenton Children’s Center in Kansas City, MO. At this 100 bed facility he was given the opportunity to work with children and adolescents ages 5-17 who required hospitalization due to the overwhelming distress they were experiencing. He then spent the next 4 years providing care on the inpatient psychiatric unit at Shawnee Mission Medical Center (now Advent Health) and became a clinical coordinator providing therapy to patients requiring a hospital stay. After 6 years of providing inpatient psychiatric care, he was hired by a Kansas City psychiatrist to provide intensive outpatient programming (IOP) to patients in conjunction with the medication management provided by the doctor. After 7 and a half years of intensive experience Cliff transitioned to private practice where he specializes in the treatment of anxiety and trauma related disorders.
